In 2019, X2O, a part of the Legio Group, chose a team of PHPro consultants to build their webshop. Legio Group is a business conglomerate active in retail, and includes brands such as X2O, a chain specializing in bathroom furnishings and accessories. In addition to X2O, Legio Group also includes Beliving, which consists of exterioo (Overstock Garden) and Juntoo (Overstock Home).
Exterioo is a Belgian company specializing in the sale of garden furniture and outdoor accessories. The company offers a wide range of products, including garden sets, lounge sets, parasols, and various other items designed to create a pleasant outdoor living space. Exterioo is known for its focus on quality and design, aiming to provide customers with a broad selection of stylish and durable garden furniture. The company primarily operates in Belgium and the Netherlands, with both physical stores and an online shop, giving customers easy access to its products.

A Race Against Time: How PHPro Launched Exterioo’s PWA Webshop at Lightning Speed
De nieuwe webshop van Exterioo is trouwens niet zomaar een webshop, maar een echte PWA, oftewel een progressie web app. Dat wilt zeggen dat de webshop zich gedraagt en eruitziet als een native mobiele app.
After X2O opted for a consultancy approach, Exterioo chose a full PHPro project team for its webshop transformation. A dedicated team was quickly assembled, consisting of a Project Manager, a Product Owner, a Technical Architect, and three developers. Exterioo’s goal was clear: launch the new webshop as quickly as possible, so the pace of the project was intense. Along with a new design, several new features were needed to ensure the webshop met Exterioo's requirements.
Exterioo's new webshop is not just any webshop – it's a true PWA (Progressive Web App). This means the webshop functions and looks just like a native mobile app.
ERP Switch and Magento Upgrades: How Exterioo’s Webshop Was Prepared for the Future!
After the successful launch of Exterioo’s new PWA webshop, the next major challenge was on the horizon: an ERP switch. Exterioo migrated from Joro to Microsoft Business Central, which required significant technical adjustments. This switch resulted in a major improvement in customer service: customers can now not only track their online orders but also access offline orders through their account.
Furthermore, it became apparent that the new webshop, based on a copy of X2O, was running behind on several Magento versions—both front-end and back-end. At PHPro, where security is a top priority, we took this challenge head-on. Immediately after the go-live, the project underwent a thorough upgrade to bring it fully up to date, ensuring that the webshop met the highest security and performance standards.
With the ERP switch and essential upgrades, Exterioo is now fully equipped to provide customers with a secure, efficient, and user-friendly webshop experience.

How Exterioo Lightened the Customer Service Load and Increased Customer Satisfaction
After the architectural foundation was solidified, it was time for the most exciting part of the project: feature development!
Since Exterioo’s product range is focused on outdoor moments, the summer months are incredibly busy. This pressure is also felt in the customer care department, which handles all customer inquiries related to deliveries, returns, warranties, and more. Customers can also contact them to place phone orders or ask product-related questions.
After an analysis, it quickly became clear that a large percentage of these questions were related to order deliveries. Based on these results, the PHPro project team set to work with the goal of reducing the pressure on the customer care team and allowing them to assist customers more quickly.
The outcome was impressive! By launching the order tracking feature, the pressure within customer care was noticeably reduced during the busy summer months. Customers now have the option to track their orders within their account on the webshop. In addition, a tracking link is also sent to customers without an account in the confirmation email after placing an order.
Thanks to the order tracking feature, customers can easily track their orders, which not only alleviates the pressure on our customer care team but also provides a smoother and more transparent customer experience.

Smart Search and Personalized Advice: Guided Selling, Quick Filters, and Blogs for the Perfect Furniture Choice at Exterioo
To find the perfect piece of furniture in the wide assortment at Exterioo, several optimizations have also been implemented. For example, quick filters on category pages or a complete guided selling experience. In this process, the customer is supported by a few short questions to arrive at a filtered catalog with only products that match their choices.
Additionally, customers can always turn to the blog section for advice. Through various articles, extensive attention is given to materials, collections, and maintenance tips for the furniture. These articles are already suggested in the search bar thanks to an enhancement in the search functionality.

Omnichannel experience: From showroom quote to online order
Through the omnichannel approach, the showrooms are also connected to the webshop. The customer can always check the latest status of their quotes and orders via their account profile. Additionally, during this phase of the project, a lot of effort was put into enabling customers to convert a quote into an order online. These quotes are created in the showroom in consultation with the customer. After some time to reflect, the customer no longer needs to return to the showroom, as they can now complete the conversion online.
