Wandelsport Vlaanderen is a sports federation that promotes, facilitates and supports hiking in Flanders
Wandelsport Vlaanderen is an organization with 60 000 members and more than 300 clubs. Together with the clubs, members, partners and staff members, Wandelsport Vlaanderen offers custom tailored walks for everyone, from the belief that walking contributes to an active and healthy lifestyle.
Wandelsport Vlaanderen originates from the merger of three organizations: Aktivia, Vrije Vlaamse Recreatiesporten and Vlaamse Wandelfederatie, with each their own administration tool. That’s why there was the need to centralize these tools in one main application.
The main criteria was to migrate the 3 databases into one central database and build a user friendly application for club administrators to manage clubs, members, hikes, and orders.
A custom application ‘Club Portal’ was created for the employees of Wandelsport Vlaanderen and the administrators of the associated clubs. Next to this primary objective several additional features were provided:
There are some other nifty features on the roadmap such as the possibility to generate and sent online invoices
The Club portal has become an integral part of daily monitoring and organization for the Wandelsport employees. It serves as source for several external websites and parties that offer this kind of information such as Uit in Vlaanderen or Walking in Belgium.
Walking in Belgium is a yearly hiking calendar that offers more than 2000 hikes in Flanders and Wallonia.
