New e-commerce platform for Hopper

Hopper is the retail organisation of Scouts en Gidsen Vlaanderen. On Hopper you can buy uniforms and an extensive range of camping material for group and individual camping. In addition, Hopper offers eight youth accommodations, buildings and camping sites for schools, youth movements and also families, companies and non-profit organisations.

Mission

Scouts en Gidsen Vlaanderen wants to increase the synergy between their Hopper shop and the youth accommodations. This required a new website: one shared online platform with a fresh and adventurous design on which you can easily find and reserve youth accommodations and also buy camping material.

For this challenging project, we happily rolled up our sleeves!

Challenges

The new Hopper site had to be very flexible and functional. Visitors should be able to view rooms, make reservations and also order Hopper products in just a couple of clicks. This required various integrations with an ERP (Navision), a new PIM (Akeneo) and even a booking module that we custom-developed, tailored to Hopper's needs.

Process

Analysis

First we did a visual analysis of the current websites to determine the main user problems that the new website should solve. Synergy between the youth accomodations and the camping products is key for this project. This means the user should be able to easily switch between buying products and booking reservations, in the least amount of clicks.

Design

Based on this analysis our UI designer whipped out some wireframes to create a user flow that allows users to easily navigate between products and accommodations. When the flow was right, we created a sleek and playful design that fits Hopper's target audience.

Build

After the design phase, our technical team started developing the new webshop. We also took care of the correct integrations of Hopper's ERP and a new PIM (Akeneo). With this setup, Hopper is now able to manage their inventory much more efficiently.

Finally, we also developed a custom booking module for Magento to allow people to book Hopper's youth accommodations.

Results

The new Hopper website is a prime example of solid code and flawless design. It has evolved from a complicated and user-frustrating website to a user-friendly one stop shop for all your camping adventure needs. Now, it is fresh, adventurous, easy to use and ready to offer a solution to virtually every camping need.
